"The train that was 100 years late". Despite my disappointment at not cycling, the Ghan was a great train journey. Sitting in the quiet lounge car, beautiful views rolling by, watching some videos or whatever... nice.

If you haven't been there, it's damn pretty. But the tourists boats that chug along are laughable - penned up inside a glorified floating bus with 30 other people when the whole point is that you are somewhere with so much space! Go walking people!

This is Paul, a nice guy I met at Adelaide River. He'd just come up the east coast of Australia and then cut across from Cairns to Darwin. Count the water bottles, and check out the drawstring-curtain helmet!
