Heading for the Swiss border coming off the 'balcony of Italy', a 1,400m drop that the road did not seem to want to waste any time achieving.

Adam, Duncan and I at the top of a pass near Belaggio in northern Italy. There was a monument to road cycling there and a cycling museum which was showing the tour - half price tickets if you cycled up there!
